About Us

Susanna Wesley School has provided an enriching preschool experience to generations of children from Shelton and our surrounding communities for fifty years.  Founded in 1967 in the basement of the Huntington United Methodist Church parsonage, Susanna Wesley School began with only eight students.  Today we serve over 150 students and are proud that many of our parents are themselves alumni of our school.

Our school’s name honors the legacy of Susanna Wesley, the mother of John Wesley…minister and founder of the Methodist movement.  Living in England during the 1700's, Susanna Wesley was the devoted mother of 19 children.  Dedicated to learning and a life of faith, she educated all her children at home.  The love of learning she instilled in her children is the same love of learning that inspires our mission today at Susanna Wesley School.
